thumbs up

It could just be that I envy possession of the chairs in the photo for this article, but I'm pretty sure the content is some of the best stuff I've read on relationships in a while. Settling: by Scott Croft.

Interesting article, and always a helpful reminder...there's not going to be a "perfect guy" no matter how long we look. And yet it begs the reminder that God can still use our personalities, preferences, and desires in determining who we marry and who we don't. I've seen firsthand how all the important things can be in place and the relationship can go nowhere. I also need to be reminded that God's ways can't be put into a box...whether they be calling us to marriage through romance or through settling. So is our next "in the mood" installment going to be pursuing settling since the last one was romance? I'm not sure what that would look like, but if we figured it out it could be interesting.

I expect the perfect guy for me. I expect romance and I expect to settle happily. I want both. I don't think I can envision an effective pursuit of settling. My favorite part was the couple paragraphs on a true definition of love based on Scripture. That's what I want to focus on practicing. I made a list somewhere around 8th grade ;). My specifics have changed quite a bit since then and the first one is: I want a man who loves God with all his heart, soul and strength...
